When I am painting, I am swept up in a feeling of dance and music, applying all the elements of shape, line, color, value and texture to the piece in various ways, until they are integrated as a whole, from the opening flourishes to the final details, much like orchestrating or choreographing. When all goes well, there is a sense of both peace and liveliness- endless possibilities.
